This is my trophy that I won at the Naperville Independent Film Festival fro the film I stared in, Girls Room. The day of the film festival, I got to present flowers and spend the day with Kay Panabaker, a Disney Channel star. At the award show, I got to walk the red carpet and get interviewed with Kay. After we were all seated, the award presentations started. After many categories, they called "Best Film," and named the nominees. The presenter opened the enveloped and announced the Girls Room won! I got to accept the trophy and give a speech. My smile was huge as I accepted the award and thank my mom and my director. Later that night at the reception, I was the 9-year-old star and center of attention, though stars like Karen Black and David Proval were in my midst.
My trophy was made by the same company that makes the Oscars. It is 14 karat gold and stand 16 inches tall, but it is so much more than that. Winning my trophy proved to me that hard work pays off, no matter what age you are. When I made that speech, I entered a new maturity level, became someone other people looked at, and was truly at a loss for words. I learned that you can receive one of the biggest surprises, when you are not expecting it.
